Dumbo
Dumbo is both a 1941 animated film by Disney, and the namesake of the main character in the film. The movie was based on a storyline written by WHelen Aberson and illustrated by Harold Pearl.
Premise[edit]
The story takes place in a circus trope, where the main character is Jumbo Jr., a young elephant cruelly nicknamed Dumbo. He is ridiculed by the other elephants for his huge ears, which before the movie ends, he uses as wings to fly.
Throughout the film, his only true friend, aside from his mother, is the mouse, Timothy – a relationship parodying the stereotypical animosity between mice and elephants.
Induction[edit]
In 2017, the film was selected for preservation in the United States National Film Registry by the Library of Congress as being "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".[1]
In 2019, a live-action film was released.
